There seems to be more interest in these as of late so I thought I’d start a topic about mine.

Purchased in Feb just before lockdown. I had been looking at EV options but if I’m honest, all the climate change protests got my back up a bit and I though stuff it, time for another big NA before they are taxed into oblivion.

Wanted a V10 or V8 but needed space for family duties. Test drove a E60 M5 Touring but I just couldn’t get on with the gearbox. I then spotted this local to me, had higher mileage than I ideally wanted (120k at the time of purchase) but though I’d go for a look. The previous owner had owned for 8 years and had maintained it relatively well. After the test drive I knew it was for me and did the deal.

8 months on and 5k miles, it’s certainly living up to its reputation. One thing I have also really enjoyed is chatting to random people at petrol stations, services etc about it. A testament to a 13 year old family estate.

Anyway, if you are thinking of getting one do it, they really are great cars and the prices seem to be firming for good examples in the right spec. Just be sure to do the relevant checks on the common issues.

Over winter it will be new PS4s tyres all round, wheels refurbished and steering wheel re-trimmed.

Very nice. Looks great in the blue.

I’ve been tempted with one of these, timing chain concerns have put me off!

Cheers, the colour is nice I must say. It really changes in different light.

As for the timing chain, the S4 is is where issues mainly lay. The RS4s uses different components and is good up to at least 155k miles I believe. From my research before purchasing, the timing change is of lower concern compared to the DRC suspension, corroded rads and oil coolers and coking.

Love the colour choice and the sound of these.

Remember seeing one pull away from some lights in London many years ago, when they were new, and that image / sound has stayed with me!

Great car. Although a little cramped in the back if it has the buckets and a tall driver. A mate used to have one, gave it the beans everywhere! smile He had the full Milltek system on it with black tips. I think BCS do a system too (which would be my choice). Milltek quality has gone down a lot over the last few years.
Enjoy.

Love it, my favourite age of RS4 and even better in an Avant. Would have Nogaro blue or Imola yellow if I could pick.

Cheers for the kind words....

It does have the Recaros and yes, they do impact on space but I’m not the tallest guy so it’s not too bad plus most of the times it’s just my daughters in there (4 and 8) so plenty of space for them.

We took it from Norfolk to Devon over summer for 2 weeks and I used a roof box which really helped plus it looked pretty good with it in my opinion.

Yellow would look amazing but so hard to find especially in an avant.

Lovely example.

I've been toying with one of these to replace my 911. But tbh, I've also been looking at C63AMG too.

And of course, just staying with my 911 biggrin

Is that a Motion Sport 600? I have the exact same one. Good box.

Cracking!
Had a B5 and B7 back in the day as well a C5 '6'.

Yes, it is a Motion Sport 600 box. A good box but perhaps a little on the narrow side.

C63 N/A, I’ve driven a couple of them over the years and the sound is something else.

Yes, the gearbox is extremely good and precise. This one had a new clutch just before I purchased it which was a bonus.

the best color in my opinion
