Vanquish Black Carbon Edition
Discussion
Always liked the look of these. I’ve currently got a manual V12V which has been the most fun sports car experience to date but I’m feeling old and perhaps it’s time to grow up just a little?! Haha. Has anyone got much experience of these and can compare to a V12V. I’m guessing the performance will be a bit better than the manual but not as much “fun”. I live in London and ironically don’t take the car out as much for a burn since lockdown but do make more trips with the kids and think if I get a Vanquish, I might use and enjoy it more, just in a different way. There’s a nice one privately for sale on AT for £93k
Worth asking the owner what the registration number is to check the MOT history, any advisories etc. as the AM reg is now on a Ferrari. Other than that seems a good price but as always well worth obtaining an independent inspection before handing over any readies. The AM Timeless warranty does not cover all items on the car mainly engine and gearbox so can be expensive to repair.
Very happy with mine but the problem will be that you will soon then want a Vanquish S

Are you saying that the Timeless warranty does cover engine and gearbox, or doesn't ? I only ask because my former Vantage SP10 had it's engine replaced under warranty when less than 3 years old, with no hassle whatsoever.Very happy with mine but the problem will be that you will soon then want a Vanquish S

I bought my Vantage from a main dealer and they’ve been very good with the warranty. Everything has been covered but maybe that’s just good luck on my behalf. Very happy with mine but the problem will be that you will soon then want a Vanquish S
Hmmm. Is the S a big upgrade? I prefer the styling of the S, sure and the quad exhaust is nice. Imagine that sounds better too? Anything else?
Engine and gearbox is covered under Timeless warranty, well worth reading the Timeless warranty info as it does exclude a lot of items.
Vanquish upgrade to an S would be circa £30K not really worth the money.
Best to swap out the secondary cats on a standard Vanquish for genuine AM replacement pipes at £600 car sounds a lot better (mine does) and probably releases a few more BHP.

Taking my time looking, myself. As 2016 non-S Vanquishes are around the same cost as a low mileage V12S SS, they are VERY tempting.
It appears the biggest change in the Vanquish’s life was the 2014 change to an 8 speed ZF which also brought other tweaks.
According to the “Gaydon bible” and various reviews at the time (eg. https://www.evo.co.uk/aston-martin/vanquish/19705/... the S brought key changes too including: extra power, improved engine response, faster 0-60 (like you’ll need it in London
), suspension tweaks and aerodynamic improvements. How many of these you’ll notice in day-to-day driving, apart from noise, is debateable.
There is also Apple Car Play in these cars from 2017 which could be nice.
Whether you go for 2016 or a 2017+ “S”, you’ll still get the divine exterior/interior, B+O sound, largely CF body and enough speed to land you in jail very quickly.
Is the S worth 20+k more? If it has the optional splitter, skirt and diffuser “stripes”, absolutely!
The sound could also edge you over to an S. But try them both.
I personally think the S will retain the current premium for years, just as with the original Vanquish. That’s simply down to bragging rights, I should imagine!
Does anybody know how many Vanquish models were built, and how many of those are S spec?

Interesting! As the owner of an SP10 which also had its engine replaced under warranty I'd be interested to know what went wrong with yours if you're happy to share.Octavarium said:
A big end failure at 14k miles. 2 years 10 months into its 3 year warranty, so got lucky there.
That was good timing!Mine was valve gear. Could easily have been repaired but AML don't do that so it got a "new" engine. So unrelated problems and thankfully major engine/transmission problems do appear to be fairly rare.
