Seems quite sensible to me. I don't approve of racism, but I do approve of taking the mick No offence to our Irish PH'er's intended there.

Our race equality laws should be used to ensure just that, equality. Nothing more, nothing less. It's about time we reigned in the PC zealots, they have gone completely fruit loop

Hehe, tea cosy

Should be a new law to being a police officer.

If you can't take a joke, P*SS OFF!

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! Can't say too much in case i land myself in trouble. But that's the Met for you, the way we're treated is an utter disgrace. No wonder there's zero morale.

It's mad. Okay, the cop who made the remarks was an idiot, but to go after two other people for not leaping down his throat is asinine.

The remarks were stupid (comparing head gear to a tea cosy and mispronouncing Shi'ites) but it seems to me, anyway, that this is at worst a case for gale-force bollocking and note on file.

But six bloody years ?

How long before thoughtcrime ?

The *mad* thing is the refusal (apparently) to take action against things that matter - for example the tiny minority of corrupt/violent/*really* racist Cops.

I suppose it's easier to persecute the good majority by crucifying them for using "Black" rather than "Afro Caribbean" (or whatever the current required word is).

Which in itself says much.

I seem to recall Dibs saying that he'd been told to be careful about what he wrote or some such nonsense. Thing is, I can't think of *anything* he wrote that could be construed as remotely offensive or problematic.

It's the way of things. The cop bosses have given up trying to improve the "Police Service", so all the effort goes into the much easier task of trying to improve the public image of the "Police Service".

Is fine. Black people are happy with that.

The correct way to address black people is either 'Black' or at the moment 'African Carribean'!

Afro is a hairstyle!

So should I take offence if someone refers to me as white because technically that's not correct?

I'm more a pinkish orangey flesh colour.

And there's another question. When we say 'flesh coloured' whose flesh are we referring to? My mate's is a completely different colour to mine but both are flesh.

I give up.

My children are taught "peach coloured" at school... Make of that what you will

Anyway, I actually am brown at the moment thanks to the Algarve
