Was driving this morning and saw this on private property. Hood emblem suggests it could be a Mack, but cannot make this true,. Does anyone know?

No idea, but the front clip looks like it's made from fibreglass knocked up in a shed.

Is an old fire truck of some sort? Front door shape looks like a Mercury.

I also suspect it's some kind of homebuilt special; the terrible proportions, nasty misshapen wheel arches and wheels that look too small and too modern in design for the style of the body.

quite possible if you look at the shape of the front door. My guess is it might have been a Dodge sort of like the one below:..

Not unless they built Cortinas with 8 stud hubs. They'll be from a more modern pickup.

Cab is a 48-53 dodge B series pick up but the rest is all homebrew special by the looks of it.

Agreed, front end looks a little like a pastiche to a Dodge Power Wagon. The grille particularly.

Did Dodge (or any other manufacturer) make an extended cab back then? Never seen one that old.

laugh To be fair I quite like the style of (real) 30's/40's Yank pickups.

Well, at least the bonnet emblem is from a Mack. That's a bulldog. We have two real live ones in the family, and I have a brass bonnet emblem on my desk !
