Change interior colour on 993
Discussion
Okay my search for a decent c4s has led me to a nice car, right colour but on the outside only. Interior is :vomit:
I remember aceparts saying that it would be 2-3K to change the whole interior colour....can this be right...seats, trim, carpet, et al.
Also would you do this or wait until the spec you wanted came up.
Thoughts.

You'd need loads of components to get rid of the green i.e. new dash, door cards including pockets and lids, rear side cards, rear seats and linings, carpets, centre consul, etc
Unless I'm mistaken to get the dash out you need to get the windscreen out, someone may correct me on this though, so by the sounds of it £3k may be somewhat light should the windsceen crack (which they ususally do when being taken out).
In all fairness I personally don't mind it, it's certainly better than some of the interiors I've seen.

Well, if the interior is in excellent condition, you have to offset the cost of a new interior with the cash you'll get for the original. I doubt you would pay 2-3k including selling your original. More like a few hundred to a breaker plus yours, or if you sold yours privately might cost you nothing.
Maybe there is someone ou there looking for a lovely green interior, you never know.

Another option would be to get 9M to spray the dash, console and doors and just replace the seats. I've just had part of my interior done by them and it looks great - too early to tell if it will last though.
That said, suggest you speak to Mark @ 9M as he will have a really good handle on the costs of replacing the interior - he also has a contact who breaks Porches.

I have a post somewhere that shows my gt3 seats recoloured with a product called SURFLEX. Very good stuff although the day we sprayed them was terribly cold (clearly states not to apply in the cold) but my enthusiasm carried me away. Consequently I've just had them re-trimmed by southbound.
You would need new front seats, surflex the trim, new carpets.

Bought a 993 C4S last year in silver with that green interior.
It's certainly not my favourite interior but grows on you over time. However the silver paint with the red calipers and turbo body looks fantastic
In the end though the sheer driving pleasure of the C4S makes it irrelevant - it really is a fantastic car to drive.
Personally I'd save your £3k and spend the money on a few track days (inc tyres and brakes) to really enjoy the car - only then will you start to get a real appreciation of its performance.
Go for it!
I know the car and the previous owner(s). Indeed, I've driven it over here and at the 'ring (gently
).
It was in superb condition when I knew it. One of the best C4Ss around, as Ian Dorrian will testify (he was going to buy it but got put off by the interior).
However, the interior IN THE FLESH is actually very liveable, and quite different. Not vomit green, just a forest green. You could tone it down with a black carpet set or black seats (relatively cheap and easy to do), but you must see the car in the metal. It looks much better than in the pics and the overall condition of the car is too good to ignore.
It is also at a bargain price. I know what it went for a trade or two ago and it was quite a few k more. Remember this is a RHD example and the C4S is one of the best 993s around (IMO).

As Dom said, I did indeed have a serious sniff around this car and it was very tidy 18 months back.
The colour put me off big time so I went for an arena red and grey leather combo with an epic aerokit that I adore.
£28.5K is a bargain based on what I was looking at paying for it. But 18 months is a long time and a lot could have happened over those months, so get an inspection done before parting with your hard earned.
There is no such thing as a cheap Porsche, but if it checks out ok and you can live with the green, it does sound very good value indeed. Just don't expect an easy job selling it on later.
Good Luck.
