PLEASE HELP!!!
Discussion
Feel like a fool, but nevermind what has happened has happened. I've got a dilemma and I need as much help as I can get!
.........I was travelling down to Cardiff a few weeks back with a group of friends who hired out a vehicle. As my friend was tired halfway through the journey, I decided to take control of the car. However, I managed to get caught speeding at 115mph by a police officer with a Gatso gun. The officer immediately pulled me over and I gave my details and was told that I would have to attend court.
At the time, we hired out 2 cars, on one car we decided to have additional drivers added to the agreement (my car) and on the other only the named driver was allowed to drive (my friend's car). Now unfortunately due to the rush, our documents got mixed up and therefore, we had the agreement that did not possess additional drivers. Therefore this led to further problems……
In the panic, due to assuming that I was not insured (I was insured), I panicked and jumped to the conclusion that as a result of not being insured together with the speeding offence I would not be able to become a pilot. My freinds already knew that I've been working hard for the last 5 years to get where I am, and being just an arms length away from starting my pilot course, I took the advice of using my freinds details to avoid being penalised when it came to my career interviews or criminal checks.
Anyway, I falsified my details to the officer by giving the details of my freind (who was the named driver), however before I got out of the police car or should we say half-way through the discussion, I came back to my senses and told the police officer that I was lying to him and confessed by giving my real details.
Now I have two problems:
1. Speeding, and
2. Dishonesty.
Does anyone know if I could be charged for the dishonesty part as I did give my full details before I got out of the car? They didn't arrest or detain me, but before I lied they did tell me my rights but I presume this was with reference to the speeding. Also on the producer it only mentioned about my speeding, there was no mention of the dishnosty on the producer.
The problem, is that if I get charged for dishonesty I will never be able to become a pilot, if however I only get charged for speeding, then that is not much of a problem (bear in mind, I have never been in trouble with the law before, and have only now realised the seriousness of my actions after researching).
Can anyone shed light as to what I can do in regards to the above scenerio.
Also because this is my 1st driving offence and have had a clean driving licence for almost 5 years. What would I be potentially be looking at?
Thanks to all those that reply.

I think the police will view you as an idiot who they have their pound of flesh from, given that you will doubtless be disqualified for a while.
I shouldn't worry about the dishonesty angle.
From the career perspective, that should be recoverable.

I am Bib.
I think you will be done for the speed.
I think you will not be done for any dioshonesty in relation to this because you told the bib at the scene and did not allow the bib to think you were someone else and leave the scene.
Had you done so, you would have been asking for trouble.
As it stands, I doubt they will follow up the fact you lied initially!

There's only one big problem I forgot to mention!
I signed the producer in the name of my freind's name before I confessed.....
Did you get a producer with your name on it?
Were you asked to produce your licence?
The signature is not a legal requirement on a producer. You can refuse or sign it with whatever signature you wish. It is used by a person accepting the documents as a check to see if the licence produced tallies with the signature on the producer. If it does not, there are more checks to be done.
Do not try and produce as your friend. That would be a very big mistake!
The fact you came clean at the time is the most important fact in this instance.
Do not worry unduly about the signature!

What's a Gatso gun?
A Police officer holding one of those large yellow boxes with a long metal pole up against his shoulder and aiming the pole down the road at oncoming traffic!

Must be a very fit BiB to rush back to the car, stash the kit and then start up and chase after someone doing 115.
Or can it be used whilst driving? Presumably from the passenger seat - unless there is an exemption available.
