Lets say you have the luxury of being able to work remotely and the free cash to be able to drive to somewhere like Spain or the south of France for a couple of months at a time and work remotely from there, with a £5k budget which car would you choose for driving there, using daily whilst you're there and then driving back in? Obviously you need to think of:

Reliability
Fuel economy to a point
enjoyment
comfort
something you wouldn't mind getting dinged a bit

For me I think I'd go for a W220 S320CDI and spend whatever's left on new tyres, a thorough service and going over and a good detail.

For me it would be the CLK320cdi Sport, you can drop the all the windows & enjoy Spain as well as the roads on your way there.

They also come with the Orthopedic seats so long journeys will be a breeze.

You might also want to consider the tax/social charges involved in working remotely.

I think I'd stick with my E90 BMW 330i.

OK it's not a convertible, but does have a glass sunroof and dual-zone climate for when it gets too hot. Plus it's petrol and manual for when you can have a bit of fun! Although the fuel bills will be more than for a diesel. frown
