Avengers AC428 / Invasion of the Earth Men
Discussion
As above. Watched about 20 mins of this episode last night and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the maroon AC428.
I don’t know too much about the AC428, apart from the fact that they were fitted with the “Police Interceptor” 428 motor, as opposed to the much $ more expensive / hard to get 427 “ side oiler “ motor.
This car has survived. It was sold to the States in circa 1973. Sadly It lost its original motor years ago, and now has a 6.2 litre motor.
It appears that this was the first 428 built.
It was used by AC in brochure shots and Tara King ( Linda Thorsen ) was photographed with it.
The chrome wires really don’t do the car justice.

I missed this part of the show, with the very early DBS in it. Anyone know its registration number ?
And does anyone recognise the almost Gothic mansion that features in the show ? Note the huge Cedar on the right, no mansion garden was complete without one of these !
I love the 428 Frua. I think mainly because from some angles (not the front) it looks like a debauched version of the TR6.

Thanks Mark, interesting link ! It does say that the DBS was the first production car but it seems to have the Avengers episode wrong ?

My school (a rural comp) was in a mansion, and used the obligatory Cedar tree as its logo (still does apparently).

My school in Loughton, had / has ? A Cedar. But the building was no where near as grand as the one in Invasion of the Earth Men.I love the 428 Frua. I think mainly because from some angles (not the front) it looks like a debauched version of the TR6.
