Looking for some help here.
I am looking at a mid range SUV to run the family around £32k as an absolute maximum, what would you buy?
Reviews suggest Audi Q5/Porsche Macan/Lexus RX/Bmw X3/Evoque
Can anyone tell me their thoughts on any of these?
Macan seems lovely but read an article that suggests if things go wrong they can be pricey but its probably the nicest looking car. Only problem is in my budget it wont come from manufacturer so the warranties available are a lot shorter.
Seen a 2015 with £45k miles
Ive found a porsche specialist who suggest servicing isnt too bad. Does it matter it wont be done by porsche themselves.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Macan: I've read that the transfer boxes are a bit weak in these.....could be the usual of only hearing about the few that go on the internet rather than the 000s that are fine.
Land Rover would be my choice, approved used and swap for another in 3yrs. Discovery Sport ?
Quick look and you could get a decent Velar or RRS for that money

I’d avoid a disco sport. Big car that actually isn’t very spacious inside and usual dire LR reliability and build quality. (I speak as an unfortunate owner)Land Rover would be my choice, approved used and swap for another in 3yrs. Discovery Sport ?

I'd second that. Went from years of V8 coupes etc to an SRT8 family SUV. Absolute beast but terrible reliability. (Guess all my lucky kharma with Turbo'ed Mini's, TVR's, 928's etc just ran out)Anyhow, got myself into a MY19 XC60 T5 Inscription Pro. Fantastic family car for the 4 of us (would've liked the XC90 for 7 seat option from time to time but much more money).
It's not bad to drive at all, especially in Dynamic mode. The ride is lovely, almost as relaxing as my XKR was.The best part is the interior. It's just a lovely place to be for everyone (especially with Panoramic roof for rear passengers and heated/cooled massing front seats too)
Pretty useful load capacity too.
Had similar dilemma. Went X3 m40d. The best all-rounder in terms of space, driving experience and interior quality.
I found the Macan a bit small in the rear and cabin felt dated; Audi SUVs don't look right to me; the Evoque is a little bit feminine for my powerfully-built director status; and I didn't look twice at the Lexus as I'm not a freemason.
Owned the X3 a year/12k miles - pleasant place to be, excellent family wagon, well equipped, inoffensive to drive and a fair bit of shove from the diesel power plant.
However, I think if I were to buy again, I'd opt for the M340 estate as opposed to an SUV. The only advantage is not having to bend down to insert small children in the rear, but you are paying a hefty premium in terms of running cost to avoid this minor inconvenience.

As for the OP's question my brother has an RX 450H ..his second RX and they are top cars. Your budget will have you in a relatively new one. All in all hassle free ownership.
Lol, like some of the RS Audi's obviously but for me those are the only one'd I'd look at. Just always preferred the SUV or saloons. As for the RX seen great reviews online but the depreciation on them seems quite bad ;-/

I was looking at similar, really wanted a Macan but after test driving one and then a X3 M40i back to back I've ordered the X3. Much more spacious in the back seats, bigger boot, pretty similar performance to the Macan GTS I drove and the tech was a lot better

My wife bought a Skoda Kodiaq last year, in Laurin and Klement spec, with a 2.0 petrol engine and DSG. It really is a very nice place to be, has 7 seats, and every toy you can imagine, including fridge, heated and vented seats, pano roof, active cruise control etc. The engine is basically the same as an Audi S3 or Golf R, with a different map. It goes well anyway with ~190bhp, but a remap would see it close to 300bhp.
