I have a few members of staff on flexible furlough due to reduced opening hours but as time is passing and we are heading for 31st Oct where I will be contributing 33% to the shortfall I have asked them to increase their hours worked but still short of their pre furlough.

1 senior manager has become very comfortable doing less hours for the same money and is causing problems about doing a few more hours but still way short of normal.

My question is where do I stand?

Deepnds on what your HR Department says/what the Company policy is regarding somebody not carrying out a reasonable request.

The short answer is - either he does what he's supposed to or he gets sacked.

Can I take them of furlough completely and pay them for hours worked?

If you take them off furlough then the position defaults to their normal Contract (ie they work 40 hours per week and get paid for 40 hours per week). You can both negotiate a change to this contract and hopefully find a compromise. If no compromise can be found then the original contract still stands. If they don't do what the original contract says then it becomes a disciplinary matter.

That’s what I thought.
This will be how I will handle the situation by turning the tables and instead of doing an extra 4 hours, yes 4 fking hours then they will have to do 15 more.
