NIP 67MPH IN 50MPH

Got the dreaded letter through the post.
Was north Yorkshire doing 67mph in a 50mph coming into a single carriageway where the mobile camera was.
Lack of attention from my side.

What can I expect? Reading things online about bands a, b, c etc. Anyone had anything similar recently?

Well its more than 20% over but dual carriage way my guess a fine related to income and 3 to 6 points. I got 9 and a big fine for 114 on A1 years ago but avoided a ban.

That’s a normal 3 point fixed penalty, too fast for a course I think

Yeah the camera was on the single carriageway but my speed was up due to coming from the dual carriageway.
I belive it is over the course offering speed.

If its only a NIP and not a court summons. Its just the 3 points. I think you were close to speaking to the

Yeah a NIP to determine who was driving (cars registered to the mrs)

I’ve had a few close-calls in 50s in the last few months. Ironically in the Cooper S and not the XFR-S. Always the plod were sat in a lay-by or passing in the other direction. Might have been a bit more than what the o/p was caught for

But I blame the plod that did my bike training years ago. 30 = 30. 40 = 40. 50 = a bit more than you should. NSL = GLF.

I'm hoping for 3 points and 100 fine....would be the best outcome out of this.

NIP was to determine driver mate. Hopefully your right with the outcome...id take the 3 points and fine.

No guarantee of that, I got done on a stupid piece of motorway (70 limit uphill, 50 limit downhill) that I hadn't driven before. 76 in a 50 - straight to court for SP50. Pleaded guilty by post, 6 pts and £380 fine, plus costs (and a victim surcharge... on an automated camera and empty road) pushed it to £500. First time with points on my licence since I got it in 2007!

You have realised that 76 in a 50 is higher than 67 in a 50 even though the digits are the same

Yep, it used to happen. I got done about 30 years ago on a motorbike doing 105 on the A1(M). I turned up to court suited and booted, apologised and got let off with six points and a fine.

Ignore the nonsense you’ve read online as income based fines applies to court proceedings.

In North Yorkshire, 67/50 mph is too fast for a course but within the threshold for a £100 Fixed Penalty with 3 points. A Fixed Penalty doesn’t involve court proceedings.

if 67 was on the speedo then actual/sat nav speed could be 61 which is greater than 55, so if the camera is working expect 3 points.
