RIP James Randi
Discussion
The doc on him was a storyvile one. It was good, he had much younger partner from Brazil and there was some issue getting his partner married in the US, he may have entered illegally etc).
But yep called BS on magic, psychics, healers etc. Not one person ever came close to claiming the $1m on offer. I also liked the fact as a former magician himself he could preform many of the stunts people claimed were magical

I'm sure he will have set something up to prove if he could do anything from a spirit world. Didn't Houdini say he would ring a bell or something like that?
Randi did a great job exposing charlatans. I have nothing against people who interpret the tea leaves or do a fun reading as long as it's free. Once they start charging money for it I think it's exploitation, often of the most vulnerable people.
His £1M challenge was a brilliant idea.
RIP.

I was wondering who has picked up the mantle from Randi but don't think it really works like that any more. In today's world you need a much more sophisticated army to counter the tsunami of bulls
t that the internet delivers.
There's the likes of Penn and Teller, Derren Brown, and maybe Neil Degrasse Tyson falls into that. But bigger than that is probably the more formal professional fact-checkers and the numerous "sceptic" type groups and media nowadays that all focus on those themes.

Or just give them the airtime and let them debunk themselves
