Need Help......need to leave a set of keys and a car at LHR

A very good mate left his car with me when he was away on business for a few days- the plan was for me to pick him up at 2pm today at H'Row T5 in his car, he'd drop me home and go on his way.

Unfortunately i now have a client meeting that i can't miss (we're a new startup and its our first client) at 2pm! I'm good, but not magical enough to be in two places at once....

So i can take the car right now and get a taxi home, but how do i leave the keys so that he can pick them up and drive himself home? I was looking for a key combination locker, but that doesn't work. Any other ideas?

Above the Sun Visor or balanced on top of a back tyre.

I think you need to hide the keys under the car in some sort of container, perhaps above and behind the rear bumper or similar.

But, it's very risky because in that event, if they found the keys the car insurance would be invalid.

I suspect you should have booked the day off when you knew.

Now your very good friend is going to be very annoyed

I do remember a magnetic box being advertised for this very purpose years ago.
Wouldn't be to difficult to knock one up?
Tupperware, Gaffer Tape and a flat Magnet.

One of you is getting a taxi back whatever you do. One way risks losing the car, the other doesn’t.

Does the car have an app that allows lock / unlock (BMW / Mercedes / Audi and a host of others do)? If so then lock the keys inside the car and use the app to open the car when your mate is standing beside it.

ooh that's another briliant idea! although i'm not sure all the cars lock if the keys are in it.......

How did you solve it?

Could your mate have just gone for a bite to eat and then you picked him up later?
