Sub 10k weekend car

At some point in the not too distant future I can see a stage when my Mk5 GTI is getting too old to be my reliable daily. When this happens I just can't see anything new or new ish that is desirable, and affordable for me. The fun stuff is just too much money, and what I can afford is still enough I'd have to borrow and old enough that I'd have high ish running costs on top - I did struggle with this bit with the golf until I'd paid the loan off.
So I'm considering getting a very cheap lease on a very boring daily, and then to keep me from going mad with boredom having something fun in the garage.
My golf is a limited edition so even with the high mileage and age it's probably worth £7.5k ish, so I'm rounding up to £10k as a budget.
The weekend car can be anything with just two conditions...

It has to be special
Special can be age, looks, drama, speed, no roof etc but it can't be a car that I could run as a daily, or even could be considered to be run as a daily.
What would you get in this situation??

I've just sold my Pirelli. How about a really nice Boxster S? Will get a mint one privately for under 10k. Below is a trade sale and over budget a little. My mate has Ferrari's, Lamborghini's etc but always grabs the keys for the Boxster. He loves his.

Yeah the Boxster is a good shout. I don't love how the first gen look but I know it will be a great drive.

It's impressive what they can sell for! I bought mine 4 years ago at 49k miles for £8750, low spec but great condition. So if yours went for more money, 4 years older and 10k more miles you did well!https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I've put a lot of mileage on mine, it's about to tick over 120,000! So won't be getting 5 figures for it!

I'm sure these are great cars but they don't really offer much different of a driving experience to the golf, being an FF hatch back with a reasonable power output. They might be a bit quicker, and more engaging, but I'm still in a front wheel drive family hatchback. Belle427 said:

By the end of 2021 the golf will be knocking on the door of 150,000 miles I expect, and is going to start having fairly regular garage visits and I'm killing the value of it
The idea of boring plus second car is to give me a really reliable car for daily use that just does the job of being a vehicle, and something special in the garage so I can be happy with life.
A mapped golf gives me the worst if both worlds
Could do a lot worse than a Toyota MR2 Mk2. Mid-engined experience, baby Ferrari looks, pop up headlights and fun to drive, yet surprisingly cheap and reliable being a Toyota. Starting to head into classic territory too.
For £10k you can get a really pristine one, or one of the faster later Turbo import models. Just don’t buy a Mk2 from before 1992 as early ones were a wee bit prone to fishtailing (I know as I had one).

Often Overlooked but the 350 z is interesting.
I do like the z4 but the Boxster definitely feels more special. The z4 looks better though. Tbh the drive isn't that important to me, but the sense of occasion is. Often Overlooked but the 350 z is interesting.
