Hi went and test drove a 740e yesterday was "poverty spec" but a lovely place to be but the boot was quite unusable due to batteries. I also tested a s350 L AMG line this was loaded with kit but both me and the Mrs didn't like it as much it was black on black and felt quite claustrophobic despite it being huge also Mrs thought the steering wheel was too girthy!
Anyway there seems to be some real deals on almost new g11/12 2.9% PCP so talking sub £600 for one on 13000 miles but all quite low spec. 3rd party dealers have some very heavily kitted cars for mid 20's to early 30's so finding it hard to make a decision
Any input?

My observations are that the ride isn’t as good as my old S class, bigger wheels and bloody run flats might account for this.
MPG around town is low 20s but 36 on a run.
Sat nav and phone is fine.
Connecting Spotify via bmw connect is clunky, CarPlay might solve this but I’m not using it enough currently to warrant the £265 bmw want to activate it.
A little known fact is that most of these were bought on a 5 year service plan which is transferable so I’ve I’ve not spent a penny on it in 18 months.

A few years ago I went through similar on the F01/02 series. The hybrid was just too much of a compromise on batteries/boot.
Looking at other models, but wanting a half decent spec of options and nicer interior trim made it hard. All the 740s and 750s rarely had a good option set. So in the end my search based on logic and good reasons led me to a 760. It makes sense. Despite the obvious engine fun, the interior and options are just epic and not even close to the plastic feel of lower models.
Once the prices drop a bit more I'll be changing to the latest (last) 760.

Did find one with the lounge pack so the footrest and no 3rd seat but Mrs thinks it's stupid

I have a 2018 740d which was ex demo and so specced to the hilt.
Lovely place to be, though I preferred the drive of my previous D4 A8.
Just over 2 years old and have had no issues at all. Does 30mpg easily kicking about and have seen 50 mpg if careful on a run.
Dread to think what trade-in will be on it but I'll worry about that next year!

Is there no one aftermarket you could go to? It sticks in the craw to pay to "enable" an option so when we bought a s/h VW without CarPlay/Android Auto we went to someone who got everything that could be enabled (and also for less than half VW would have charged).

I did consider it but as I still have a couple of free services left I can imagine losing the facility following some kind of software update. Went to see it and it was rough not 26k's worth for a car that was 4 years old. Rear cup holders didn't work the drivers upper part of the comfort seat worked ok sometimes maybe. Think I to had been owned by a larger guy as the drivers seat controls were pretty much disconnected from the seat. Rear climate control looked like they had been stood on.
+ Points brand new msport brakes and 4 new tyres

When I searched for my F02 I could not believe the state of some that were up for sale. Premium cars, V12s and they'd not even bothered to clean them, and the wear and tear on many made it clear they were owned by corporates or rich people that didn't care for their £100k purchase.
In the end I found mine at Park Lane BMW in London. Turns out their prices are quite good on the larger premium BMWs. They are the only BMW dealer in the UK actually owned by BMW (not franchise) so they get lots of lease cars back before they go out to the network. They also don't have physical space in London to hold them. And they put new plates, mats, etc on them to look the part for London. I was very happy with the price and condition of mine. Worth a look.
