Lease coming to and end I need to replace the car.

Basically, the choices are:-

E - Niro 3 - £340 per month (all in cost, including VAT which I know I will get 10% back for).
E-Tron 50 - £562
Model 3 LR - £606
EQC - £627
Model 3 P = £688

I have three kids and do pretty limited miles. The BiK makes a co electric car a no-brainer (I own the company). Man maths suggests the E-Niro and then a fun second car like a cayman. But if I am doing that I might better off simply buying a second hand Leaf or such like and taking that as the Company car.

I love the idea of the Tesla as they have the best network but I cannot get past the looks of the Model 3. The Model S is a stunning looking car and I just do not know what they were thinking when designing the 3... I am also coming from a Volvo where the all touch screen approach is driving me mad and I fear the Tesla would be much the same experience?

E-Tron and EQC will be nicer places to be that the Tesla but will lack the same experience overall no doubt.

Any comments welcome. I can't find better deals than the above.

We’ve recently purchased the EQC, more thoughts/comments on that thread, so that would get my vote. If your long trips are limited then the charging network doesn’t really matter as you will charge at home. Our kids always preferred the back of a 4*4 so they would vote for that ahead of a saloon or hatchback too.

Overall the car feels like the latest MB, so it’s a nice place to be, its very quiet and feels quick too.

However It doesn’t handle like a cayman so if you can make that your daily then maybe you should go for that. smile

Based on you post I'd avoid the model 3 like the plague as you really aren't going to like it. E-Tron is also heavy on the touch screens so you should probably avoid.

Only you know if the EQC is worth twice the cost of the Kia for your limited use. Polestar 2, Skoda Enyaq not a consideration? What terms are the deals you are looking at?

Thanks. Looks like it is a choice between a 4x4 with a touch screen or a similar saloon!

I-Pace? Best handling of the 4x4s and roomy inside.

Don't get too hung up on that though. Yes they do have a lot of extra chargers, but in 18 months of driving a 24kwh Leaf (i.e. need to charge A LOT) I have glanced enviously at a supercharger maybe twice. Could be a result of where I live (Cotswolds) and where I drive to (mostly Bristol and Birmingham), but there just aren't any around. Have a scroll around ZapMap and see what's in the areas you're likely to need them.

Done the same as the BIK is awesome!

Ended up with a Tesla Model 3 LR - we couldn't get a Kia eNero or Kia Kona, the i-pace was really expensive when we looked with the options I'd have liked... But it does drive very well! Very decent ride and handling - but base spec doesn't have heated seats and a host of other small bits which seems a bit cheap.

I think the Polestar 2 would have been in serious contention but wasn't available then.

Ultimately, the Tesla charging network, and the fact that the Model 3 handles the pretty well, swung it for us. Plus we can add a towbar and therefore take the bikes and kids on holidays etc... So far, so good!

In the first year I've used superchargers twice and they've been amazing! Watching it charge at 450 miles per hour is seriously impressive. So, whilst not used all of the time, it's certainly nice to have.

Any idea when the Mustang Mach E will hit the UK. it was supposed to be this year.. my company car goes back February, and it seemed the ideal replacement. (BIK wise, and I liked the interior - had a preview - more than the I-Pace)

Not sure about others but Zenith informed me that the Mach-E had been pushed back to 2021 so it won't be quotable until Feb/March.

Hyundai Kona could be considered if you're looking at the Kia Niro. They seem to have better availability.

Thanks. I am now looking at the 7 seat model X. My accountant has given me figures showing that the overall cost is much the same as buying a Kia Sorrento. Can't get my head around buying a 7 seater people carrier at 80k but it might be the best answer.
