boot-lid damage....

Some Anus reversed into my girlfriends new (to her) 450 today. It has created a thumb sized dent in the centre edge of the boot lid, and pushed the hinges out a bit. The are also some very fine hairlines near the hinges on the wings.
Clearly it will need the bootlid filling? and painting, and possibly onto the wings.
Does anyone have a ballpark on the cost of this?

Thanks all. We have just noticed that as well as the damage to the lid, the car (jeep) must have had a tow bar, since there is a nice round dent/crak the size of a tow-bar just below the rear light on the wing as it flows round to the back. Steve of Thames Valley Racing is taking a look on Monday. They know the car well having looked after it before for the previous owner. They have ordered in the hinges as one has bent slightly too... Will keep you posted. To Thames Valley Racing have their own bodyshop? anyone used it?

Hi Sena,
So sorry to hear about your accident. I/My company has run a few non-fault claims for PHers with Chim's recently through third party insurers, avoiding their own insurers. We could undertake all negotiations for you if you like and can recommend a TVR/Noble bodyshop in Chessington, who have repaired a few PHers Chim's recently.

How would that work when you dont know who hit the car (i.e. they buggered off without leaving their details..)?
On a slightly different topic - is there a central body you can claim off? I got hit 2 years ago by a chap who turned out to be uninsured - he was prosecuted and then the CPS dropped the case... I have ended up paying the excess, and the insurance company never got anything out of him.. grrrr

Sorry just spotted this reply. I wasn't sure whether you had their details or not, as you mentioned that the other car was a Jeep? Do you have a registration number?
There is a central body, the MIB, who may get involved if it is an untraced driver, provided that the property damaged is uninsured (I'm assuming however that you are comprehensively insured) and that the Police have been notified. Any claim through the MIB however is subject to a £350 xs, so this would be deducted from any claim put to them.

Nope - got back to the car to find the damage done and driver long since vanished! Bet they took one look at the car and thought "Ooops, that looks like an 'expensive motor' better get out of here". Grrrrr.
Also tried asking in store for CCTV footage, but no cameras in the parking area. Told them that was the last time I was parking there....
