The Greek Navy minesweeper met a cargo ship today.

The ship is the ex-Royal Navy Hunt class minesweeper HMS Berkeley, one of the Captains is probably feeling a right berk now.

I thought the aftermath of the Cattistock fire looked terminal but I was wrong.
I think this one may be beyond repair hehe

Both vessels will have radar, radio and watch. So BOTH skippers will be feeling like right berks.

Mad how it's still afloat. Where's the rest of it, sunk?

Alleged picture moments after the collision, you can see the stern section (that fell off) still afloat to the right:

This is the containership that collided with it:

Wow it really was a big cargo ship then. 63,000 tonnes?

Good work on the damage control there then, keeping it afloat.
Were they thinking back to these days?

The watertight bulkhead did it's job of keeping the water out, and its not that heavy, the main machinery etc. is all in the aft section, and the hull is made out of fibreglass, which is at least partly why it came apart so easily.

Sister ship HMS Atherstone is currently up for sale - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/notice-...

Now who do we know who might be in need of a new Hunt Class minesweeper?

how/why would the funnel collapse? It looks to be made from paper!
