Anyone using their Alexa device to make and receive telephone (not drop in) calls? EE and vodafone seem to be able to link

Is it any good?

Im guessing it still uses your mobile signal rather than some kind of voip?

I have limited mobile reception at home, wifi calling is a bit hit and miss, I was thinking of placing my phone in a part of the house with signal and using alexa to make calls from my desk?

Yeah, I do. It's pretty good, very clear to talk to people and good voice recognition when dialling but it does have a few caveats which could be ironed out. The main being that when I am not in the house and my phone rings, it still rings through to my alexa at home. I do like the find my phone feature though. Very handy.

And yes, placing your phone in signal would definitely work.

Thanks
Interesting that it rings when your mobile is not at home.
That implies that it is using some kind of VoIP rather than just tethering to to your phone and using the available cellular signal

I'm not very techy so I have no idea of the nuts and bolts. All I know is it is some kind of wizardry! I wish I could turn that aspect off though to be honest as it can become wearing. I have 6 Echo’s around my house, so when my phone rings they all make quite a loud, annoying announcement.

I'm sure when reading up on this service you can tell it via the app which ones are to ring.
I was thinking I'd just use one dot in the office and leave the others off.
