Courier to send tyres

Afternoon all,

I need to send four brand new tyres from England to Northern Ireland. I've never posted tyres before, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced courier?

I've had a Google, but some couriers want them boxed up (I've ordered loads of tyres online and they've NEVER arrived boxed), some won't ship to NI, and some are just stupid expensive. Whenever I buy tyres online the postage is more than reasonable and they get sent "loose" ie not boxed up just tied together with packing tape, unfortunately I've never took note of the shipping company that was used!!

DPD are decent, that's who oponeo use and i've had tyres delivered from all over Europe with them

Did they have to be "boxed up" or were DPD OK sending them as they are?

I've been using APC Overnight recently. It may be worth reading the boxing up thing carefully as APC only require bare rims to be boxed (otherwise they have to be manually handled - presumably their machines are a bit rough). Tyres are ok wrapped. I partially box tyres - tape a disk of card to at least one face - to reduce the temptation to bounce them around which can apparently damage them.

Not used them myself but Paisley Freight is the usually the defacto answer when it comes to shipping wheels and tyres.

I've just had a pair of motorcycle tyres delivered by DPD... no box, just a bit of paper taped to the tyre with my address on it.

Although DPD deliver tyres, they refused a collection for me for tyres.....


Because tyres are prohibited apparently.
