My wife's got into mushroom foraging over the last couple of years, and now she's properly obsessed! I used to be terrified but now I'm happy to scoff whatever she brings back! Anyway, she's now looking for a dehydrator, so I wonder if anyone can recommend a good non-plastic one (and possibly any specialist classifieds where we can get a good used one).

I've had one of these for years, its a plastic body and lid but with metal (mesh) trays which are dishwasher proof.

My wife currently uses baking trays over the radiators and the house smells of smelly socks, so I'm hoping for a dehydrating machine we can put in the garage!

I’ve got a BioChef Arizona dehydrator which may well be overkill for you (I use it for jerky, mainly) but it does mushrooms, amongst other things, very well.

I make biltong, and made a dehydrator myself. It's basically a plastic storage box with a USB powered CPU fan on each end pushing in opposite directions in order to draw air through the box.
