Hello all,

New to this part of the site as I am a reject from the maserati forum having sold my 3200. I need to have a 72K cambelt service on my 2.5 166. How much and where should I have it done. I am based in southampton and dont mind travelling to save the money. My local Alfa garage is asking £1020. Veloces in Barnet £585 + Vat.

Please let me know if this is the right sort of money or if there are any other specialists local to me.

Many thanks

Ian

Ken Bell in Fleet is slightly closer as in just up the M3, or Alfa Aid in Maidenhead. Can recommend AA and I know of others who've been very happy with Ken.

You could try Adie Hawkins of AHM, he's in Hartley Wintney about 4 miles from Fleet (on the A30). He was cheaper than Ken Bell when he quoted for my Twinspark cambelts. And he seems to have fixed my stiff 4th gear without taking the whole gearbox apart. (And he somehow made the engine run hotter just by running a diagnostic and saying "there's nothing wrong with the thermostat". Don't know why, but ever since then it's mostly run at 90 instead of 70).

Got it booked in at veloces in Barnet. Very reasonable and ties in with a meeting in London.
