Just after some thoughts or experiences.

Just about to agree a test drive of a Merc A45s, more for curiosity.....anyone done same? Am I going to be impressed? Underwhelmed? Or just a different experience altogether?

Loved my LCI M2 for last two years and considering Comp next but thought I’d give the merc a whirl.

Any thoughts about the dark side appreciated. Been with BMW 12/13 years now

Ps. I have asked for thoughts on the Merc forum to get both biases!!

I test drove one and found it horrid: tinny, boosty engine with a lethargic gearbox unless wound up, and with a very stiff ride. Interior quality poor. Just didn’t get it. Image wise also a certain “type” that drives it now.

Certainly would never swap an M2 for it!

Cheers, thanks for replying, feels like one of those where I just need to look at it and drive it then maybe dismiss it.

Love my M2 so it’s got something to attempt to live up to!

Apologies, I was thinking previous generation, the new 421 hp one is by all accounts quite a weapon, and of course is a step up performance wise compared to an OG M2 - would still take an M2C over it, but should be an interesting test drive

Nothing to do with how it drives but Command is horrid compared to iDrive.

If you like coupes , why not the new CLA45 , hear a lot of good things about it? Looks much better than the old.

I’ve done back to back drives OGM2 v M2C and the matter is a big improvement , but I can get the logic of fancying a change.

I second this word for word, minus the last part. The interior was quite poor on the last gen, this new gen is quite a nice place to be. Horrid ux for most functions but a much nicer place to be than the m2, still wouldn't swap, but as a city commuter, I can't imagine a better car than a fairly well specced diesel one.

It’s food for thought for me anyway. Lockdown has delayed a test drive till Dec I guess as the plan was to drive this week when the car arrives at the dealer, unless it turns up in next two days and I pop over before Thurs.

Good shout re the Coupe though, nice looking thing.
