5 years of Elise ownership comes to an end tomorrow. Best car I've ever owned, and I'm sure I'll miss it more than I can imagine - especially judging by what's been written on this forum over the past few weeks. The trials of having to transact with "that dealer" in Scotland have unfortunately proven too much.

I'd just like to say that it's been a pleasure to be a member of the Lotus community for the past few years. Friendly, helpful, knowledgable... ... ... I'll miss the community almost as much as I'll miss the car ... (well... ... ... perhaps that's a bit of an overstatement... :-) )

So, from an avid reader, and an infrequent writer... ... ... thanks to you all for contributing to one of the best informed motoring forums on the web. Best of luck... ... ... I suppose I'll have to remember not to wave at you... ... ...

Very sorry to hear it. Don't let one poor dealer screw your thoughts on the cars though.

They really are bl--dy brilliant. Sorry to see you go

Good luck.

Don't be a stranger come back and see us now and again. I would not be suprised to hear that you have bought another Elise. If you have a next time send it to a Lotus specailist.

It's a shame but reading the previous post this is not a quick decision.
Again I understand your point
I felt the same with my esprit. Dealer was really good but far away. Car was not perfect (88 model) and I was feeling things will NEVER be as good as I expected. I never took so much the train than when owning the Esprit. Slowly, the idea to get rid of the cause of so much small problems for some very great others moments start to be the only reasonnable option. I may be wrong but if you experience this, a change is the option and so I hope the best for you...
Another point is that when you had such a sportcar as the elise it is difficult to go back to normal car .... so what 's your new choice???

Take care

Ben

the answer, I think, is to buy a secondhand one and deal with a decent non-franchised dealer.

I don't know where about you are, but Dreadnought at Callander are fantastic if you're Edinburgh/Perth/Glasgow and not too far away.

I've only ever dealt with 'the dealer' on the phone and ended up hanging up on them.

"Dreadnought at Callander are fantastic "

Hi,

Is Dreadnought in Callander and elise specialist ? see many S2 or R's there ?

Cheers
Scott

(im looking to get a R next year, got same problem with lack of dealers in scotland. Thinking of just going to a specialist for servicing but i guess my log book wont look so go when i come to sell).

no, BUT- the man in charge is a K-series wizard (I don't want to tell you too much - that's his business and he might tell you if he wants to) but they are TVR specialists and think they tackle nearly anything - they are VERY good.

I really would not have any reservations about putting my car there.

Hi,

Dreadnaught tell me they are "reluctant" to service the R and its toyota engine as their experience is with the K-series.

Thanks anyway

I've passed that place in Callander a few times (I've stopped for petrol in the garage by it a couple of times too).

Woman in kiosk told me that the owner of the TVR place had one.
