Contact Management System
Discussion
Hi all,
I work for a consultancy where all our contacts (current and potential) are stored in an Excel file, set up by the marketing people.
I'd like to transfer the contacts into an e.g. MySQL database structure and make them accessible over the intranet. Potential for people to add and edit contact details, history, interactions, notes etc would be very useful.
Is there an open source solution out there? I've checked SourceForge/Google and can't find anything that fits the bill. It must be a fairly common application - so hoping there's something reasonable out there.
Functionality doesn't have to be particularly advanced... anything would be better than the current system.
Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks.
UPDATED to add: Just realised what I'm looking for probably falls under the title of "Customer Relationship Management" (CRM). Can you guys think of any that are tailored for e.g. consulting businesses, without any calendar/product/etc extras - just contact management, pure and simple?

Have a look at PHProjekt, which is a web-based groupware. It requires logging in by users and is customisable so that it only offers the features needed, ie. the address database.
There is a demo version at www.phprojekt.com/ and yes, it's open source.
