Identiy piece of music in a film and TV show
Discussion
Awhile back I was watching a children's animated film with my kids called Maya the Bee the Movie on DVD. Half way through there's a scene where one of the bees flies down a hole and there's a short piece of instrumental music in the background which I remembered was the same piece of music that was used in one of the Strange But True paranormal episodes shown on ITV back in the mid-late 90s presented by Michael Aspel. Not sure if this piece of music has been used in other episodes of this series but I'm sure it's been used in other TV shows (can't think off the top of my head what they are).
Here's Maya the Bee the Movie I found on youtube. The music I'm referring to is used at the 33:45 mark.

And here's the Strange But True episode with the same music, heard at the 6:13 mark (and used in other parts of the episode too).

Anyone have any idea what this particular piece of music is from originally?.

No idea, but I've had similar searches for TV music in the past, so:
According to the credits the incidental music is by Phil Binding and Simon Moore, which leads to Boom Music http://boommusic.tv/page/about which is a library music company, i.e. they provide generic music that can be licensed by TV shows without having to commission their own music, which is why the same music can pop up in a number of places. I guess you could contact them to ask about it, but it's probably just Spooky Library Music Volume 3 Excerpt 4.2, or something like that.
I also like looking out for cheeky music choices over television shows, my favourite being a show that was following someone trying to pass their driving test, who had just failed their test for the Nth time, incredibly upset and not knowing how they can carry on as they were obviously a failure and would never succeed etc, and the lyrics behind it were 'Who's gonna drive you home tonight?' by The Cars.

Thanks for that. I think you're right about the library music, probably just some.royalty free stock spooky music that they've used, odd though that the same piece of music was used in a children's animated film though (though I wouldn't say Maya the Bee is a Hollywood Disney Pixar production or anything like that). I think the music they used in that Strange But True episode was perfect for that story, and that opening and closing theme tune was very atmospheric. A very underated paranormal TV series, I think Aspel's voice suited the show too as a presenter/narrator (I know he's not exactly Orson Welles in the vocal sense).
I'm sure that music has been used in another British TV show though. The other spooky music they used in that episode I swore I heard in a TV drama, could've been an episode of Minder, Sweeney or maybe something like Midsomer Murders. I'm sure it used was in a short scene in an early Minder episode, and If I had to guess which one I heard it in I would say it was High Drains Pilferer from series 4. Could be completely wrong. I know the early episodes of Minder did have the odd occasional instrumental background music added, which from.my memory the later series didn't. Know idea why that but maybe because it was more a drama in the earlier series than the Arthur Daley comedy show it became.
