There's a Special Event taking place on Saturday 14 November 2020.

It's a special one day (online, virtual) Classic Motor Show 2020, bringing together highlights of the show including:
. a virtual Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership Competition
. clubs with news of their latest activities
. Practical Classics' showcasing two project cars
. restoration advice from Gilbert Michaelson
. celebrity chats

And much more, all in aid of Sporting Bears (Motor Club) fundraising for Children's Charities in the UK.

This is in place of the usual very popular three days of running the Sporting Bears Dream Rides, where passengers give a donation for a 10-mile ride outside the NEC complex from which every penny raised is donated to the nominated UK children's charities, about £30,000 on 744 rides last year.

I've helped out and been a driver at the NEC SBDRs for over 20 years in various cars, for the last 12 in my 1973 MG.

From the Classic Motor Show webpage -

"The loss of events has hit the charity sector hard as many of their usual fund raising opportunities are based around these. We want to do all we can to help Sporting Bears raise the money they would normally from visitors to the show enjoying one of their fantastic Dream Rides.

Please help them out by donating today" - https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sportingbe...

This year Sporting Bears are supporting:
. Birmingham Children's Hospital
. Alder Hey Children's Hospital
. Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS)
. Naomi House & Jack’s Place (Winchester)
. Zoe's Place Baby Hospice (Middlesbrough)
. Chestnut Tree House (Sussex)
. Rainbows Children’s Hospice (Loughborough)
. Julia's House Children's Hospice

:bump:

I'm surprised there's no noticeable interest in this on here.

Remembrance Sunday reminded me of the show, the silence in the Halls, including the Bears "garage".

Only 5 days to go now.

Cheers.

What were you expecting, a round of applause? Just because nobody's commented doesn't mean we're not interested.

I'm gutted not to be going: I've taken my eldest for the last few years and he loves it as much as I do, but we both understand why this isn't happening.

It's great that there's an online event to help ease the pain for the charities, and well done for pushing it, but please excuse enthusiasts denied an opportunity to go to an event they enjoy for being a little grumpy and unresponsive* wink

*At least we're not as bad as Donald Trump

Thanks for your post.

I did wonder about enthasisising the word noticeable in my post but wasn't sure how to do it - without potentially upsetting anyone. biggrin

I wasn't expecting or wanting a round of applause, people clap when I leave a room not when I enter. smile

Again thank you for your slightly grumpy* response. thumbup

*Nowhere near as bad as Donald Trump's, and I'm a person that does very long-term grump myself.

Good for those like me that don't like farting** about with Facebook.

* Many will already know or have found this before, but not me.

** Many I know like Facebook but not me, I was only half joking when I put I'm a long term grump

So some pretty good stuff already, across a range, and plenty more to come.

I've been able to watch live (-sh) on that-there Facebooky thingy and I think delayed on YouTube. I'm going to see if I can improve picture quality by hooking up an old laptop to our cheap 32" telly via the wonders of HDMI and (wired) wi-fi, well it worked when I test ran on Thursday.

Afternoon, on the couch today watching and enjoying the content. A bit agog at the Stirling Moss stuff being auctioned. There’s some really personal stuff. Good prices being got. The auction is running really late now, anyone know why/how?
Don’t know if this link works. https://youtu.be/JMbBJH54jMo

I've no idea I've been watching the CMS videos on FB and YT, I thought things were running late because of the hero worship of Stirling Moss(Ltd) part of the auctions, good luck to those that are interested but only one car that I was interested in hearing the result of.
