Hi all.
I’m having issues with the TV. Its a Panasonic viera with inbuilt freesat. I have a sky dish but no sky.
I was under the impression that I could use the paired cable from the sky dish straight into the tv and tune the freesat.

The issue is when I tune the freesat the signal quality is 9/10 signal strength 10/10. But no picture or sound. A box appears with no signal on the tv.

What type of LNB is on the dish? If it's been changed to a SkyQ type then it may not work with your TV.

Not sure what LNB is on there. I can see two cables on the end of the dish and thats about it.

Are there 2 or 4 connection points on the Lnb?

If only two then it's a Q lnb and they are wideband and won't work on a Freesat TV.

Post a zoomed in photo and I'll tell you for certain.

If it is the wrong type of LNB, a replacement is cheap to get off eBay and is easy to fit - just had to do mine in the summer after an incident with a ladder...

Does the TV also have a freeview tuner? It might be that it's looking for a signal from that. Check your signal source on the TV. Also, have you tuned it in? Or won't it let you?

When it searches do you get the option to search for different satellites or just Freesat.

Not meaning to doubt you, but have you selected Freesat as a source before tuning.

Are you sure it actually has the 'Freesat' platform? My 'new' Panasonic TV has satellite tuners but it does not have the Freesat platform/EPG. I get all the channels but they are just there 1- 400 or so, no epg or similar.

You need to select Astra 28.2 in the satellite options.

I’ll have a proper look tonight and get a picture of the sky dish.
Its an inbuilt freesat app and tuning into astra satelite.

I've just had the exact same issue (also a Panny TV). It was indeed the need to change from a Sky LNB to a standard LNB. Problem instantly solved smile

Interestingly we have had SkyQ since the beginning, and an 8 port LNB and 4 of the ports are all connected to FS Panasonics and works ok.

Newest TV is about 18 months old, but i do wonder if it is newer LNBs that are problematic.

Do you have a hybrid LNB? Two ports are wide band for Sky Q, 4 ports are 'old style' for conventional receivers.

Well I guess so, but the sky man fitted it all when we first signed up to Q and I told him we had a few freesat TVs and they have been fine, older ones and new ones

I had a very similar issue with an LG TV with built in Freesat. It drove me crazy for a while but I found an obscure reference suggesting the TV tuner doesn't like a signal that is too strong. Sky will accommodate it, the TV wont. Sounded odd, but I bought an attenuator from amazon and it has been perfect ever since.

I got the adjustable one and wound it down until the TV saw 85% signal strength. Still have 100% quality.
