Change business name on Google?

I might want to change my business name going into next year. It's easy enough to change on Google My Business but will changing it hammer my profile/ranking? We currently get a lot of organic local enquiries due to proximity and quality of reviews so don't want to affect that if I can help it.

Changing domain name is always risky as sometimes it goes without much problem, other times you can drop in the rankings.

301 redirects are the main thing you want to get sorted along with updating things like Google search console.

For me, unless I see a big potential upside in moving to a new domain, it is not worth the hassle and potential loss of rankings/leads/revenue etc
