My older brother is remarried and his wife has a mentally disabled daughter - aged 26 but mental age of 4-6 and has other behavioral issues frown

Previous lock down was very difficult for them, as the respite was all but removed, as will be the case now.

Daughter goes to her dad 2 weekends a month, but he is now saying that as she is an adult this is no longer allowed.

My brother has written to local MP and Matt Hancock but not received an specific guidance.

We have both scoured .gov.uk but it seems the daughter is classed as an adult ?

Any thoughts ?

I would have thought support bubbles will remain? So you would just form a bubble?

The rules are not going to be published till Weds evening / Thurs..

Orrr... maybe not

In England, single adults living alone - or single parents whose children are under 18 - can form a support bubble with one other household.

This is the published guidance so far:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restricti...

If the father is single he could argue a support bubble, if not then he appears to be correct.

I thought travel and giving of care was always allowed even during the first lockdown? Nothing will change now they will be concerned about the mental health aspect. If the daughter was 4 or 5 rather than mental age there wouldn’t be a problem.

Problem is guidance doesn’t go into that much detail to make informed decisions on anything except clear cut cases. Hoping the legislation will go into much, much more detail.
