My brother turns 30 next month, has got a small watch collection of cheaper watches such as g shocks and some others I can’t remember right now

If I was looking to spend up to 500 what watch would people recommend? I know for a couple of hundred extra the longines hydroconquest is a well thought of watch

Thanks for any help

Stretching the budget a little (ok, a lot) at £960 but I really really like the look of this one:

Should be able to get some nice watches for that budget, you could go second hand but as it’s a gift might not be quite the right thing.

Only new? A fair amount of used options in that range, but trickier for returns etc if unliked!

Some great options there so far, thanks guys - plenty to take a look at

Particularly like the mido myself not sure if we can stretch that far, but will keep it in mind

Edit to add - would also be interested in any watches where it would be possible to get it engraved on the back of the watch face

If he is in to collecting g-shocks, he may appreciate something like a Frogman, which might just slip in to your budget

Something completely left field, how about a custom watch

There’s lots of blah blah why you shouldn’t but it will be something different...

Thanks for all the links, the mido linked is a firm fave and the budget has slightly increased, has anyone got any knowledge about tag heuer f1 calibre 6, we found one for £1000 but it’s sold now,if anyone knows of one for sale somewhere that would be massively helpful

Edit - and any other options around 1000 mark, an automatic movement watch if possible

The Tag calibre 6 is their version of the ETA 2895, which is the 2892 but with small seconds subdial.

A solid skinny automatic movement.

Automatic versions are pricier but something like this would be nice..

Or maybe a Doxa?

Thanks for that guys! I’m confident he wouldn’t like the doxa watches, particularly anything without a metal strap anyway
