Which laptop?

After some advice please as someone who doesn't know very much about IT!

I want to replace my ancient (Acer) laptop as it is painfully slow and not fit for purpose now.

I'd like a laptop that's able to edit gopro footage on, has Microsoft Word capability and maybe powerful enough to play some games on (like flight simulator).

I'd prefer to spend under £1000 (ideally much less) and don't want a Mac, but open to any suggestions please. Thanks!
