Discovered: Lovely green A-reg Mercedes wagon & newer E500.
Discussion
Purely for PHer viewing pleasure, here is a lovely (and seemingly regularly used) wagon, I discovered this in Clifton, Bristol, last week.

By comparison here is another rare but far more modern green E class wagon. What do we make of the transition between this classic form and the newer, but still not that new, shape.

Quite the W123 is a true classic icon, built to unsurpassed standards. The W212 will only ever be iconic as an example of how far DB’s standards have fallen.
It is a S211. PH pedantry matters

It was a 212 when I looked at it the other day, now the ad has gone and AutoTrader are showing a 211 as an alternative.Car_Nut said:

The green one is lovely The modern one is a horrible blob.

I wonder what colour that is? This is Forest Green - is it the same?

My dad had a pov spec 200 saloon from new. 1981 SPR892X, classic white, blue cloth, 4 speed manual, keep fit windows. It was such a majestic car, clear to me even as an 11 year old when dad brought it home. It was high end Granada money but the neighbours thought we'd won the lottery, such was the cachet of the Mercedes back then.
I could pack a whole lottery garage with Mercs from the 80s.

Neither are particularly good looking for me. The older one has a style about it though.By comparison here is another rare but far more modern green E class wagon. What do we make of the transition between this classic form and the newer, but still not that new, shape.
