There are indeed different types, 4 speeds, 5 speeds, with LSD/without.
In the tips section of my site it gives a breakdown of what the codes stamped to the bottom of the gearbox casting mean (G50/00, G50/50, G50/52 etc.etc.)
There are short/long G50's (relating to the physical length not the gear ratio's) but both will fit.
The 4-speed 'boxes have a cable operated clutch, so won't fit the adaptor kit.
Hope this helps!

I have a 4 speed in my can-am with 526bhp.
It was a pain in the ass to fit so stick with the 5 speed.
The 5 speed will also be cheaper as nothing from the factory will fit so will have to be fabricated, cluch meachanism, adapter plate, etc.
Mine is only good because it is a race prepared box with a ZF diff, this will be expensive to duplicate, although mine was worth it.
