For many of us we have had a little extra time on our hands over the last few months. What games have people been playing?

I've been playing "Train Simulator" as there was a Steam Sale at the time. It doesn't run very well on my aging laptop, but it's quite relaxing to be able to travel through the countryside watching the scenery unfold. I'm not very good at driving them, but it does give an insight into the hard work that train drivers must have, learning braking points, signal sighting etc.

1980's - Class 508 Woodhead electric multiple units at Manchester Piccadilly.

Present day - class 390 West Coast Mainline south.

Started playing Elite Dangerous and put some serious hours in to that. Still playing a reasonable amount of World of Warships and World of Warplanes, a small amount of World of Tanks, but I'm too out of touch/skill on that one, plus Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition

Yakuza 0 - a game with an open world so small you could run across it in 90 seconds, but feels so vibrant and alive, whilst being packed with things to do. Also somehow manages to balance having a deadly serious main story with batst mental side quests. Can't say I've ever played a game where one moment you're engaged in a life or death power struggle with rival gangs, and the next moment helping a dominatrix who's too shy to berate her clients.

Escape from tarkov for me, it’s probably the greatest shooter I’ve ever played, absolutely punishing but so enjoyable when you get in the groove

Enjoying the weekly Forza 4 PH challenge, first time I’ve ever competed against real people.

Do also find the train sims rather compelling.

Just picked up Control. Mainly because I wanted something with ray tracing to go ooooh, aaaah, at, but it's actually a really good game, I'm really enjoying the level design and the aesthetic.

I started playing CS:GO a bit after a 20 year hiatus.

Bloody hell I thought I was ok at it and now I'm beaten by 10 year old kids from all over the world, and they also now take the piss and stab you and call you all sorts!
Things have moved on since the early noughties...

No it only goes as far as Reading / Oxford (at least, last time I played that line) - that's Paddington.

These simulator games are very relaxing in their own way, I feel the same with American Truck which I've been putting a lot of hours into recently. I typically put a podcast on in the background, accept a job and keep on 'truckin!! hehe

Another game that I've been playing a lot is a mod for the PC version of GTA V, called LSPDFR. It is basically a police mod that allows you to turn GTA V into a police simulator and can do all sorts of things, traffic stops, drug busts, missing persons etc Great laugh

Hotline Miami is another if I want a quick blast at something completely different, very retro and infuriating at times.

I've been playing Jurassic World Evolution, such a time suck and a bit of a grind at times but I am really enjoying it!
I have also started playing Alien Isolation, only a couple of hours in but I have never played a more tense game.

Just googled that and read the wiki entry for it, sounds interesting and may be one I ad to the list. I'm currently playing Death Stranding (only about 10 hours in) and am kind of struggling with it. Not having any weapons is a ball ache, though I now have some BT killing hand grenades (not used them yet). So will see how it goes.

When you unlock the sandbox, Jurassic World is great fun. The missions aren't bad, but being able to muck around and create whatever you want is where it is at for me. I used to love Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis as a kid, so it scratches a certain itch.
