Doorbells on TV! ‘kin annoying!

Am I alone in getting pissed off with the current Amazon advert on TV that ends with a ring of a doorbell? It sounds exactly like mine and 90% of the time it has me wondering whether indeed it was our front door.

There are I’m sure other adverts and even TV programs with the same sound effect. There must be tens of thousands of people that check their door daily and accumulated must add up to many hours wasted.

There must be an argument to ban these sounds on TV surely?

Nearly as annoying as the double chirp when they lock cars. The majority don't make any noise, and those that do, don't make that noise

We also have - when at top speed, changing down a gear and flooring throttle makes you go even faster

Happened the other day, I had Four in A Bed on in the background while 'working from home', the B&B had a Ring doorbell. Heard the chime and headed to my front door without looking and there was nobody there.

I assumed they'd went around and put a parcel in my safe place which happens all the time. Went to my safe place and nothing left.

Rewinded it back and it was the fking TV.

My dogs know the noise the Ring door bell makes and bark when they hear it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the use of doorbells in TV adverts was intentional in order to get yourr attention.

My pet hate is sirens on the radio in the background of an interview whilst I am driving. I start to look all around and dive for the side of the road in order to get out of the way of the ambulance only to find nothing there

My local radio station used what sounded very much like an emergency vehicle siren in there jingles for while. You would see cars stop for no apparent reason, probably listening to the local radio station. I was told some years later by a techie that worked there the station received an almighty bking from the Police. They reverted to an old set of jingles, I wonder if anyone noticed?

Yep. My dog goes berserk when he hears it. I have to take him to the door to show him that there is nobody there.

For an expensive doorbell they sound pretty naff.

As already said, sirens in records when in the car are always distracting.

I don't watch any TV but in the midst of the odd youtube video of a channel I watch on occasion this happens and yep, it's annoying as hell. But moreso because there's just no way of cancelling it or talking over it to stop it, whereas if there's background talking and I try to "OK Google" something, it doesn't have a hope in hell. I fail to see the point of 'training' it to my voice if it still just ignores it...

As for doorbell, as above, if any sort of loud shrill ring happens, dog loses its st and scurries to the door. Dog is also blind, so there's no point "showing" her there's nobody there, an open door would just send her snuffling around the drive looking for said visitor

As 2 / 3 of my cars are loud V8s (one is a quiet V8), and likewise with most friend's cars, the dog is also quite used to "deep rumbley engine noise" means either I'm home, or we have a visitor. New neighbour has a reasonably loud S6 (with the V10), so now whenever he starts that up, she goes to the door waiting for the arrival

Same here - our two go batst crazy when they hear the Ring doorbell tone.

We try to mute the TV when we see the advert coming, but we invariably miss it..

Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't have one.

I thought the whole point of a Ring doorbell was that you get a notification on your phone and can see who is calling prior to going to your door, to avoid false alarms etc.
