Gotcha wink

It would be good though wouldn't it? Looking for new challenges. Bored of having an uninspiring team mate that he never has to push himself beyond 95%... Schumacher beaten virtually. Now for someone else.

F1 would have Prost v Senna #2 and would find itself in new territory ‐ that most fans would be more interested in an inter-team battle than the F1 world championship. Could be a massive wake-up call...

Max would have age, the team and car knowledge on his side, but Lewis the racecraft, experience and his all conquering "compete mode" that we have barely seen since his days with Rosberg. Max for the initial upper hand but Lewis to claw it back once he works out how to drive that tetchy Redbull. Kinda how his first season went with Alonso although I don't think he would manage to "break" Max.

Damn !

I recall Bernie Ecclestone saying how predictable it all was with Mercedes in 2016 and that F1 was failing its audience.

Now look at it biggrin

I can see Hamilton signing for another team, but only after he has secured his 8th World Title. Once safely in the record books, I would expect him to try to find a challenge elsewhere. But he will still want to win, and my money would be on him joining Ferrari to seek the glory that would come from returning the Prancing Horse to its rightful place. 2022-Hamilton and Leclerc at Ferrari. Mark my words!

I cannot see him going to Ferrari, my view would be Aston Martin would give him a third team potential.

He's doing a swap with Russell in 2022.

He'd have to see something in the AM project that he could believe gives him a competitive car ... which is what he saw (or was shown) when he moved to Mercedes.

I'm not sure AM have the people\budget to prove they are going to be contenders ...

Why would he want to go anywhere when he is in the best car?

Plodding around as a 4 time Champion who can't get into Q3 and is constantly beaten by his upcoming rival can't be too enjoyable can it Seb? laugh

Rumour being the operative word there.

You didn’t get me.

Hamilton will sign a final 2 or 2+1 year contract once Toto’s new position is announced and will be on a record breaking salary with some kind of enhanced support for his Hamilton Commission initiative etc

Very funny.

They really need a top engine to stay at the front end of the grid when Honda leaves.

Is the Honda better than the Renault?

I think they have similar performance but Red Bull kind of burnt they bridges with Renault
so I think they would supply them customer engines but several developments behind.

Another option could be to join forces with McLaren to build an engine and try and get a manufacturer
to pay for a badge on the engine..

I believe there are rules preventing supply of different customer spec engines. And McLaren have hopped into bed with Merc so Red Bull really are looking out on a limb of their own now. It seems they either buy and develop the honda engine themselves (bold move but I could see it happening) or start having some very awkward conversations with Renault.

There's a lot to play out yet but it is clear that any arranged marriage between Red Bull and Renault would be a very reluctant one for both parties.

It doesn't look like Red Bull are going to get their freeze they want and I can't see Mateschitz as a fizzy drinks and extreme sports tycoon writing a cheque on the scale required to support an ongoing engine development effort so the marriage of convenience is looking likely.

How will the cost cap play out for teams that are also engine manufacturers? Is that side ring fenced and if so how?

Plenty of technical DNF's to suffer at Red Bull, but if Lewis genuinely wants close racing then team mate Max is the only way he will get some.
