I've got a new laptop being delivered on Saturday. I've seen mentioned multiple times across this forum that it's a good idea to do a clean instal on a new computer to remove the bloatware etc.

Which is the easiest way to do this?

I wouldn't bother doing this. You may want to uninstall some of the bundled bloatware if you feel you do not need it.

Just remember when you have done whatever you end up doing to make a restore point.

If its new - then probably little to do and only you will know if the pre-installed apps are bloatware

and it also depends on what build of windows it has installed. as either Fresh Start or Reset this PC will do what you need.

scroll down here on the link below ... to Use Fresh start to install a clean version of Windows 10 (Version 1909 and earlier)
It also explains how to do it on later versions

Thanks lads. Once I’ve done the cleanup I’ll install MS office, the other few programs I need then I’m going to use AOMEI backupper to create a full system image.

I got myself a nice Dell recently, once I’d removed the free a/v and a few other options and then used msconfig to stop a few other things from loading it runs like lightning, you may not need to wipe your new machine?

Funnily enough it's a new Dell that I've purchased. What's this MSConfig stuff you've done?

Just type msconfig into the search bar, scroll to the startup tab and prevent programmes from launching in the background like Adobe, iTunes Helper, OneDrive etc.

It's a simple feature, great to stop resource hungry programmes from launching at boot.

So things that you stop from launching at start up may take slightly longer to launch when actually required.

Edit - Now I'm actually on my desktop and not my iPad, you get to startup on Windows 10 by right clicking on the taskbar and then task manager and finally the startup tab. Msconfig can still be searched for, but it takes you to system configuration, startup and then task manager.

You can see how much crap tries to run at startup on my desktop -

I keep my OneDrive on at startup on my laptop, but my all-in-one desktop is used by the kids and wife and not a work tool.
