Mixing Oil Question
Discussion
Hello,
I bought a Honda Civic Type R FN2 recently, and having done around 800 miles so far, I checked the oil level and noticed it was getting quite close to the bottom mark on the dipstick. I understand these cars are known to burn through oil, so I asked the dealership (Honda Main) which type they used.
Turns out it was 0W-20. Not the best Oil for these as I hear 5W-30 or 5W-40 is best.
I was just wondering if putting some 5W-40 in now would be a problem, or is it going to require a complete change?
Thank you.

There's no problem mixing viscosities, Though I'm wondering if they were correct - I didn't think the FN2 was on 0W20.

I thought the same thing, but apparently it is what Honda recommend in the UK.https://www.civinfo.com/threads/correct-best-fn2-e...
I certainly won't be using it anymore, as the oil has gone down way too quick (Most likely due to enjoying VTEC a little too much).
