who still supplies 2g simcard these days? Missus wants to buy her 8 year old a "smartwatch" for Christmas as hes started going the park with friends, he has memorised her number but no way he could be trusted with a phone (looses everything).

So she has been looking at things like these
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08F9NTWBF/ref...

but only support 2g

I thought all Sims that are up to 4g support 2g and 3g, when they are not in an area that supports 4g it will drop down to 3g and then if no 3g it will drop to 2g.

I'm pretty sure giff gaff sims do.
They come in a large size and you just push out the cut out to the correct slot size of your SIM card slot.

AFAIK Vodafone, O2 and EE still support 2G, but Three don't.

Any body got any ideas on cheapest way to put a sim card in this now? I'm thinking pay as you go?

Put a Tesco payg sim in it. They run off the O2 network but crucially the top up does not expire after 30 days. It's what I use, just top it up every few months when it runs low.

Giffgaff don’t expire either, I use one in my camper van for the remote heater.

Ordered a Giff Gaff one yesterday coming tomorrow apparently, is there an expiry period on them? or just simply top it up when needed?

The credit will expire if you don't make a call or send a text for 6 mths.

Goody bags only last a month, then they expire.

The SIM itself never expires.
