Hi all,

I was after opinion from anyone that may have extended their lease recently.

I currently lease an Audi A5 on a 24 month term, due to end in March. It was a 3k initial and 203.99 a month, we like the car and so I was hoping to extend a year.

I called VWFS who are not able to quote over the phone and instead you wait 2 days for an automatic email, once received the quote for a 12 month extension was 615 a month, triple what I am currently paying.

Has anyone else had such a high extension quote? It looks like I will be returning the car in March, or is it worth me trying to quote again in the new year nearer the term end?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Try closer to the time, i had my current lease extended by 12 months and it was pretty good, cheaper than the original 3 year deal.
However my first attempt at extension and they put it up over £100 a month.

Always worth haggling with them.

incidentally I asked about another year and it was back to £100 a month more so its going back Monday (fingers crossed with lock down) bought a winter hack to keep us going over lock down as have a company car that's doing nothing nowadays being based at home.

Figures for illustration:

Original 3 + 23 £224

Quoted additional 12 months no more miles £310 per month

Re quoted with extra 7k miles closer to the time £236

Quoted September this year for an additional 12 months £296 (this meant additional big service and MOT)

Picked up a mini cooper S 2004 model for £2k until the good deals come back (if ever)

Thanks for the response, I may have another try nearer the time then.

The annoying thing is you can't seem to haggle at all you just specify the terms you want and then wait for the illustration, the person on the phone said they have no involvement.

Yeah my extension quote was £425 when I was currently paying £255 for my Audi A4.

My wife had a BMW Countryman for £245 and the extension quote for £395.

I'm struggling to justify continuing to lease my cars now. The value isn't really there anymore.

My mrs had this same issue with VWFS on an A5. She inquired about extending for 6 months and was quoted 2.5x what she was paying.

Then COVID happened and they extended at her current monthly rental.

As others have said, best to enquire near the end where current circumstances are taken into account

Reports of these extension quotes going up and down like Boris on a blonde where people ask month after month.
So ask to be quoted again after either 1st of the month or the after day in the month your lease started.

I had no joy with VWFS a couple of years ago.

My current car is with Leaseplan.

Informal extension at the current monthlies.

6 month extension 5% discount

12 month 10% discount

Trying to get a quote for the new Skoda VRS hybrid as a company car but they are not available yet.
