A very sad story. At face value this sounds like a well educated guy with excellent prospects struck down by a serious mental disorder. Not that I’m condoning his actions. I don’t find this as repulsive as say a drug addict killing his or her parents in order to get money for his next fix. This is more tragic than shocking to me.

This guy had special needs that obviously needed addressing before this sad tale of events took place.
intelligent people often has anomolies of the mind. Some can cope others cannot.
What a sad,sad story...

The Menendez brothers (Lyle and somebody from California) did it a while back. I think they were found guilty and sent to prison. They made all these abuse claims to make it seem like they did it after years of mental duress, but the fact was they couldn't hide that they're a couple of gross selfish pigs that wanted to spend freely no matter what/who was in their way.

I don't understand how they're defining manslaughter. Over here, manslaughter is like an accidental death. I don't see how his plea should change the charge. It was pretty clearly intentional, and if he made the plans for his trip ahead of the death (plane ticket purchase), I think it could be clearly premeditated. That would be murder in the first degree. The kid's a psycho (as in psychopath). Just goes to show school marks do not reflect character. Sometimes, only drive and intelligence. I hope they can put him away for a long time.

I sure hope he doesn't get off because he's considered insane. He's still responsible and still dangerous.

Crazy or not, if he did it, he's guilty. I'm sick of them letting someone go because they "couldn't stop themselves". Doesn't that mean that they're even more dangerous than someone who did have control of themselves (considered to be sane)? Self control is a requisite to live amongst the rest of us and not infringe upon our right to life and safety. All the more reason to lock him up for life.
