I know the guys involved, and there’s quite a lot wrong, as we would expect, with all reports so far.

They’ve found the round, thankfully within Wattisham’s boundary.

There’ll be some big lessons to learn from this. Just so glad nobody was hurt (they were wearing headsets, so although it was chuffin loud, the guys are fine).

Still got some way to go to beat the Belgians (iirc they managed to destroy an F16 by accident) and the Danes (who managed to fire off a missile towards a house eek )

The septics managed far far worse in Vietnam.

Important points: nobody hurt; no damage to anything that matters; everyone will be keen to ensure the chances of it happening again are greatly reduced.

The guys involved are honest, so positives will come from this.

On a personal level, my house is well within range of where the gun fired, so I’m just glad I’ve no complicated insurance claim to put in!

Lol. Police report. AAIB report. HSE report. A few photos taken at the time... I could just do without it!

To be honest I'd like to know how the media even heard about it, this sort of stuff shouldn't really be discussed with 3rd parties IMO.

Perhaps, as it took time to find the round, the word had to go out just in case it had buried itself up a cow’s back end.
Also, in the interests of honesty and openness, and with the HSE and AAIB involved, it was for the best.

Or a squaddie bleated!

This, probably...

"Anything exciting happen at work today darling?"

"Not much dear, just accidently fired a 30mm cannon while the helicopter was on the ground and we've no idea where the round has gone"

"Ok darling, what do you want for tea?"

hehe

Except it wasn’t a squaddie that fired it. In fact, none anywhere near it!

But yeah...

I think it spread through social media (as things tend to do these days).

Still, that's quite a Naughty Dennis!

Could only be bettered (in terms of panic caused) by something involving the big Royal Navy toys or a Challenger
