Buying a cheap Astra with no keys from repo, any advice?
Discussion
Just bought an Astra Estate 2011 model, SRi 2.0 CDTi from an auction site, no keys. Bit of a gamble.
Hopefully not a big job to get back on the road but it will give me something to do over lockdown I guess.
Not had one of these before or bought anything from a finance co without keys so hoping its not trashed under the bonnet. Supposed to have a FSH, V5 and 108k miles but been stood in dealers compound for 9 months, min.
So its a bit of research for me - been quoted 180 +vat from an autolocksmith for a key and coding. Vx dealer quoted a bit more. Does that sound about right? It will need a new battery of course but I'm hoping thats enough to get it started at least.
Hoping to see the car Monday morning then if its ok, pay and get it dropped at my local garage to check over and get the key cut.
Planning on giving it a big service and a good inspection but is there anything to worry about with the keys (codes?) or problems to look out for with it stood for best part of a year?
cheers!

Nothing really to add I hope it was a very good price, from experience drain the tank/change the oil & flush the Rad before starting) as you may find the old owner added something to those in protest.
Good point, I’ll drain off the fuel as well. Was going to flush the engine and rad as it’s been stood.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
