Not sure if this section is right but got an odd issue with a van ive got.
Last week it wouldn't start so had to jump it. ok great.
Next day had to charge it, then it started
next day had to charge again but nothing.
Then put a new battery in, worked spot on all week.
Until today where its dead again, put it on my cute charger and its been charging for 3hrs and its still not up to fully charged which strikes me as odd, and funnily enough this is what the last battery did.
Voltage is fine but on the van its completely dead.
Wtf is going on? lad who drives the van swears he hasn't left lights on etc. today he left the job (it started fine), went to mine to collect something, started fine again, then went home to use the toilet and then its totally dead.
Im confused....

Charge it and get a helper to sit in the car and start it. They put it in gear and have their foot hard on the foot brake.
This will jam everything up. Remove the covers to the cells and see if any are bubbling, if any are your battery is dead, if not then you have another problem.
If your battery is sealed then forget everything I have wrote.

what i dont get is the cute wont charge it up, same with the old battery last week, i just assumed that the battery was dead as i know they can show good voltage but have no amps as ive had that before.
Just odd the new battery has done the same.
Perhaps it could be the alternator not charging it and for the last week its just been running off the battery power and has now just killed it?

Does it have a fusible link in the main power cable? I've known these to fail mechanically and give an intermittent connection.
You don't mention what voltage you're seeing at the battery when it seems OK and when it won't start. That's the most important diagnostic information you can get.

Well after a few more hours the battery charger went up one more notch to full (but not to the function where it just maintains it so still not fully charged).
Put it on the van and it started again. Lets see if it starts this morning. I have got a feeling it might go again.
Battery voltage was 12.9 iirc.

Even if he was constipated he couldn't have been on the bog for more than an hour, battery went flat very quick if it wasn't already flat when parking upIm confused....
As mentioned above, something draining the battery if the charging is ok
Heater plugs staying on will drain a battery quick. Is it a diesel?

Skip straight to the final 5 words. This will jam everything up. Remove the covers to the cells and see if any are bubbling, if any are your battery is dead, if not then you have another problem.
