Just got the Lancia detailed
Discussion
Used to think I could get the Delta as shiny as a detailer - no chance! Just got the car back from Highland Polishers in Inverness, I cant believe how good its come up for a 28 year old car, they did a fantastic job.You can see better pics on their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/HighlandPolishing/posts/3...

Lovely !
Where do you think the difference is in not getting it as good when doing it yourself ?
I've done a few myself this year using pretty regular products with great results. Not saying a full time pro detailer wouldn't do better but I've been very pleased. The biggest thing is time, if someone says they've done a full detail in a day or even two I don't buy it.

To be honest I`m always a bit worried that I`d damage to the paint as I really know nothing about the various products that are used etc. I can usually get a good shine alright, but its getting the little swirls etc out that I struggled with.Where do you think the difference is in not getting it as good when doing it yourself ?

It wasn`t a full detail, just a good clean up and a bit of paint correction.

That looks fabulous.
It brings back memories for me - a good friend of mine had a Lancia Delta Integrale in the mid 1990s in the same colour. It was an impressive car. Unfortunately he lent it to someone who crashed it into the front of a Transit van. It was a serious accident and the guy driving it was quite remarkably lucky to emerge uninjured. It was a sad end to a lovely car.

If it wasn't included in the detail, put a ceramic or ceramic hybrid coating on it to protect the finish. I had a similar polish done and within a couple of weeks it looked dull again. I gave it a wash and applied a £20 spray and wipe hybrid coating and it's maintained the glossy look ever since.
Looks fantastic. There's a lot to be said for spending a bit of money to get shiny paintwork.

£300 doesn't seem outrageous.
I guess it's all personal, but to me it does, especially as the OP goes on to say that it wasn't a full detail. As we all know labour rates aren't cheap for anyone that is good at what they do .
