Hi, I've just purchased a D Link DSL 604-T wireless router for home use. Unfortunately I cannot get it to connect to the internet.

It says it's connected but whenever I try and load a web page I get directed to a BT page telling me I've done something wrong or the wholesale line is down, which it's not as when I plug my USB modem in, broadband works fine!

The fact you are getting a BT response indicates connection to ADSL. Have you checked that the username and password in the router is correct?

the problem could be with the PC.

you must have the PC IP address set to the same subnet as the modem.

the PC must also have the correct DNS IP address(es) configured.

ensure the modem sync light goes a solid colour to indicate it has sync'd up with the DSLAM.

your service provider is the next step.
Good luck!

The fact that you get the BTpage proves your PC is fine and that the link is up.

Check that your pc gets an IP address from the router by typing IPCONFIG at the command prompt.

correct option is PPPoA and LLC VC.

I guess you'll get an IP address 192.168.0.x.

I would say that your username and password are the problem - if you're sure they're right call the helpdesk.

PPP Settings
Encapsulation: 2364 PPPoA
Multiplexing: VC
Username:
Password:
Idle Timeout: sec
Keep Alive: min
MAX Fail: times
MTU: Auto if you have the option
MRU: bytes
Set Route: On Demand:
PVC Settings
VPI:0
VCI:38
QoS: UBR
PCR: 0bps
SCR: 0bps

These are the settings I used when I installed a employees Linksys router through BT.

I would go with GuyDW's idea about your username and password been the problem though as you seem to be able to connect to the BT site.
