If theoretically I may have just been clocked by a scamera van doing probably between 80mph and 85mph on a dual carriageway with a 50mph limit what could I expect to come of it?

Been driving 6 years and a completely clean license up to now. Newbury link road a339 retail park down to Burger King roundabout if anyone knows it. Stood on the brakes as soon as I clocked it and possibly a van between me and him so couple of weeks with a clenched arse I guess in the mean time.

Any knowledge appreciated, yes I know I'm satan himself and should be hung drawn and quartered etc etc. Thanks all.

I know that road very well, the vans are there reasonably regularly and I used to hoof it on that section too. Don't do it anymore as I also had a squeaky bum moment but not as fast as you. 80-85 is a bit daft on that small piece of DC though.

Yeah it was a bit daft as I've seen them there before and know the road well. It's a quick car and I was coasting when I saw the van so speed was already coming down. Read through and checked the spelling aswell as I know what you lot are like I used to use the same stretch to really open the taps but stopped that when the new laybys were added a few years back. Live and learn I guess. What we talking, 6 points and a fine? New to getting caught

I got done earlier this year, 81 in a 50 dual carriageway A road - outcome was court 'appearance',all done remotely, and 6 points + fine. Fine is earnings based so look it up to see how much of a weekly income it would mean for you, but it's topped at £1000.

Get a solicitor if your licence means anything to you. I posted this before but when I was at the magistrates for totting up my brief was the best £250 I’d ever spent. With his intervention I was allowed to drive with 12 points on my licence.

Many of us have done as you have done at your age or similar.
So no preaching from me.

But I recommend doing a track day or two when they are back on again - doing 135 mph down the back straight at Snetterton removes a lot of the need for speed on the public road

I actually know that road. I used to go along it quite often especially when driving from the South coast north!

Very tempting to speed.

Unfortunately I think that's a court appearance.

Cheers for those of you being helpful, dont mind a bit of piss taking either, fully expected it. Wait and see basically as I already knew. Not a big earner at all so potential fine shouldn't be astronomical. Points are more annoying as I've always had a clean licence.

Any scammera van remarks are only light hearted. Not having a pop at them for maybe catching me, more annoyed at myself for speeding somewhere that I know theres sometimes police. No need to get on any high horses, I know I was daft whether I got caught or not, admitted that in my OP. Am I right in thinking they have 2 weeks to send out notification telling me ive been done?
