Never heard this was a thing? Nor did I, however, the local plod have taken a dim view of the gathering of more than 100 people but not the fact that these balloons will be polluting the environment for years to come. furious

But it would have been OK if it was to commemorate a dead American criminal and police would have even joined in.

It will not be long before the police start getting badly beaten up. They are once again looking like they need to wear brown shirts going forward.

These balloon release things are the ultimate in chav. What does deliberate pollution have to do with paying respects?

They definitely shouldn’t wear them going backwards or sideways though.

Semi topical but if we're talking balloons then I highly recommend this short Qxir video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYGmifBEboQ

[Irish accent]

I say short video but if you like a bit of deadpan humour then click the 'tales from the bottle' playlist, as it won't be short once you've binge watched the lot.

Why do you consider breaking the law is standing your ground?

Or is it OK to pick and choose the laws which you wish to conform to? Is there a list of those which are fascist that we don't have to comply with?

Are you rejoicing in the possibility of police officers being beaten? Should they only enforce laws where they are met with smiles and offers of tea? Why do you suggest enforcing the law is fascist?

No I am very concerned about the possible civil unrest and harm caused.

No, they should enforce orders that are just. Would you suggest they should have arrested Ann Franke? Because "just following orders" was not sufficient to save those who committed crimes against the people.

If you can not see why the law is fascist there is little more I can do. What freedoms do you think we should have left before it is fascist?

Quite.

Everyone involved in a funeral wants to break the rules, as its a terrible situation, but the majority do not.

https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-11-12/c... is worth a read.

It also demonstrates why the "personal choice" stuff is nonsense.

> None of the victims who lost their lives had attended the party.
