The cynical part of me is interested that the Pfizer announcement happened just after Biden's election.

Having done a bit of scurrying about on the net, Pfizer shares don't seem to be the awesome buy you might at first think; there's rather more to it than just a vaccine. Hanging on a few days to swing an election might be worth more.
But the real point of my post was the good news about markets in general, and about time! Or will it be a blip, profits grabbed and it all goes back next week...?

As I asked above - why would they care whether Biden or Trump gets elected?
I’m not sure if this is the right thread to ask this, but...can somebody explain insider trading rules to me? I don’t understand how, if you are one of the very many people who knew this vaccine was about to be revealed, that you couldn’t just tell your broker/wealthy friend he might want to look at shares in Pfizer, or BA, or let him work out the companies for himself.
Do the authorities really investigate every instance of someone buying a load of shares and them going sharply north in the first week or so?
Or is the world economy actual built upon insider trading and fraud?

If someone who’s never traded much before buys hundreds of thousands of shares just ahead of news like this then that stands out and will definitely be flagged and investigated.Do the authorities really investigate every instance of someone buying a load of shares and them going sharply north in the first week or so?
